THE HYSTER-YALE MATERIALS HANDLING, INC. PROFIT SHARING RETIREMENT PLAN Contribution, Match and Other Plan Policies

  • Each participating employee may elect to contribute from 1% to 25% of compensation to the Plan on a before-tax basis, subject to the limitations of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC).
  • For employees hired on or after January 1, 2018 the Plan provides (i) automatic enrollment of eligible employees in the Plan with a 6% pre-tax deferral (3% for new employees hired prior to January 1, 2018, but on or after July 12, 2004) and (ii) an annual 1% increase in the amount of a participant’s deferral percentage, unless, in either case the employee elects to waive these procedures.
  • The Plan allows participants who have attained age 50 by the end of the Plan year to make catch-up contributions in accordance with IRC Section 414(v).
  • Total employee contributions, however, may not exceed 25% of eligible compensation.
  • The amount of matching contributions is equal to 50% of the participants’ first 6% of before-tax or Roth contributions, up to a maximum of 3% of the employee’s compensation.
  • Participants are immediately vested in the portion of their account that is attributable to their contributions and rollover contributions.
  • Employees hired prior to October 1, 2002, are fully vested at all times in their contributions, employer qualified non-elective contributions, if any, and employer-matching contributions.
  • Profit sharing contributions for all employees and employer-matching contributions for those employees hired after October 1, 2002, vest at the rate of 20% per year over a five-year period.
  • Participants who reach normal retirement age, die, become disabled, or die during qualified military service while employed are fully vested in their entire account.
