- Plan participants may contribute elective deferrals through payroll withholding deductions.
- Elective deferrals are limited to 75% of compensation and are subject to Internal Revenue Code (IRC) limits.
- Eligible employees are automatically enrolled in the Plan at a deduction rate of 2% of compensation unless they elect a different deduction rate, or unless they decline to participate.
- For participants with a deferral rate of less than 6%, the deduction rate is automatically increased by 1% each January until the deduction rate reaches 6%, unless they decline the increase.
- Blue Cross NC employer safe harbor matching contributions are 100% of the first 4% and 50% of the next 2% of compensation that participants contribute to the Plan.
- Blue Cross NC nondiscretionary non-elective contributions equal 3% of compensation, allocated to eligible participants.
- Echo employer safe harbor matching contributions are 100% of the first 6% of compensation that participants contribute to the Plan.
- All participant and Participating Employer safe harbor matching contributions are fully vested.
- Participants employed on or hired after January 1, 2024 are fully vested in Blue Cross NC employer non-elective contribution accounts.
- All other Participating Employer contribution accounts are fully vested after three years of vesting service.
