Short Term Redemption Fees at TD Ameritrade

It seems that TD Ameritrade has short term redemption fees of $49.95 for no fee funds held less than 180 days.  This seems to create a large problem for TAA strategies as 6 months is certainly much too long to go without re-balancing. I'm not sure if it is possible to include these transaction fees in performance simulations to see if it makes a significant difference.

  • We are planning to discontinue support of TD Ameritrade mutual fund based portfolios (will still support commission free ETF plan) as the excessive 180 days requirement is non-sense and not necessary. We announced that in one of our previous newsletter and will officially do so in our forthcoming new web site.

    Thanks,
